Corrugated cardboard, virtuous material
Corrugated cardboard,
A virtuous material
Our vision: to reveal cardboard as the virtuous packaging material of our future.
Renewable, recyclable, recycled and reusable: corrugated board is the result of technical know-how to produce a material that is both light and strong.
Renewable : our paper and cardboard packaging industry uses a natural and renewable material, cellulose fibre, in the form of paper or cardboard. It comes from recycled household, industrial or commercial used paper and cardboard products, the fibres of which are reused to make new packaging, thereby prolonging the use of the resource.
Recyclable and recycled : with almost nine out of ten packages recycled, the paper and cardboard packaging industry is a remarkable example of closing a material loop. Almost all of its products are recycled and transformed into new packaging in a genuine reuse system (Cofepac)
Our business is part of a circular economy, so it is in the CGW Packaging Group's DNA to optimise and recycle the resources consumed:
- All of our corrugated paper production, made from waste paper, is consumed by the Cardboard factory, thereby promoting the transition to a circular packaging economy.
- We reintegrate all corrugated board sheet and packaging offcuts into the Paper Mill.
The paper purchased by the Group (recycled fibre or virgin fibre from forestry) is FSC® certified: this means that the fibre is recycled or comes from an FSC® certified eco-managed forest, taking into account people, fauna, flora and the environment. They are independently audited to ensure compliance with the FSC® standard. Finally, FSC® products are converted into cardboard sheets and then into packaging using an FSC® credit system.
Reusable : with recycling, the fibre is reused to make new packaging (up to around 7 times); with reuse, it is the packaging itself that is reused. In both cases, the aim is to prolong use while reducing the environmental impact of the material's production cycle (extraction, conversion, transport, etc.).
Benefiting from the favourable context of the transfer from plastic to paperboard, our family group is resolutely turned towards the future and the main societal and environmental challenges of the 21st century, thus supporting our vision of ‘revealing corrugated board as the virtuous packaging material of our future’.
