A new BTS dedicated to the paper and cardboard industry has been created in Saint-Omer

Cartonnerie Gondardennes is a company firmly committed to employment and training. During the year 2023, its collaboration with the Laho Leulinghem training center led to the opening of a Bac+2 level diploma, the BTS Pilotage des Processus, in partnership with the AFI-LNR center in Rouen.

This project, supported by Afifor (a joint industry association dedicated to initial training and apprenticeships in the Paper and Cardboard industry) and IPC Formation (Paper and Cardboard industry), was made possible thanks to the recruitment campaign launched by the Manpower Longuenesse agency and motivated employees of the Cartonnerie who wanted to return to school.

A FIRST PROMOTION OF STUDENTS

The creation of this new BTS in Saint-Omer is original: it was supported by the Paper Industry and approved by the National Education in less than a year, thus responding in a very agile manner to a crucial need for future employees trained in the specificities of technical professions in the paper and cardboard industry in the Audomarois basin. The last school year was thus able to welcome its first class of 10 people, namely 8 people recruited by Manpower under work-study contracts and 2 employees of Cartonnerie Gondardennes. It should be remembered that this project came to fruition thanks to the commitment of the various stakeholders: Arnaud Vasseur and Evelyne Dourlens (Laho), Isabelle Margain and Sophie Dion (IPC Formation) Walter Milhamont, Bruno Courquin, Maria Boullet and Caroline Le Louarn (Manpower).

TRAINING OF YOUNG PEOPLE IS PART OF THE HISTORY OF CARTONNERIE GONDARDENNES

30 years ago, Alain Lamiot - former manager of Cartonnerie Gondardennes and former president of the CCI Saint-Omer - created the Bac Pro "Paper Industry". This Bac Pro subsequently became "MSMA" for "Maintenance of Automated Systems", with a specialization in "Pulp and Paper Cardboard"; then "Production Line Management", supported by the Brockus training center in Saint-Omer, now called Laho, which allowed Cartonnerie Gondardennes to recruit, train, develop and retain its employees.

A STRATEGIC CSR AXIS

In order to ensure continuity in the transmission of know-how, Cartonnerie Gondardennes, the French leader in corrugated cardboard, recruits and trains 20 to 30 apprentices each year.

This commitment to training and transmitting is part of one of the pillars of Cartonnerie Gondardennes' CSR strategy: “WORKING FOR OUR TERRITORIES”.
