Solidarity operation of the Terre de Verre association
Solidarity operation of the Terre de Verre association in partnership with Arc France and Cartonnerie Gondardennes
As the end-of-year holidays approach, the Terre de Verre association is renewing its solidarity operation of creating artisanal Christmas baubles for the 3rd year.
The Christmas Balls are always in limited series and even very limited this year and their sale will also benefit UNICEF.
The first edition of this project was launched in 2021 with the aim of promoting glassmaking expertise. The 2nd edition resulted in a partnership with Cartonnerie Gondardennes for packaging and was a growing success with customers and collectors from the Pays de Saint Omer but more broadly from the Hauts de France region.
The 2 editions raised €6,300 to UNICEF and underprivileged children.
For this 3rd edition, this winning partnership is renewed between Arc, Cartonnerie Gondardennes and Terre de Verre for a beautiful showcase of the glassmaking know-how of Arc, newly labeled "Living Heritage Company" and the papermaking creativity of Cartonnerie Gondardennes. Thus, this cohabitation of glass and cardboard, noble materials and both recyclable, highlights both the heritage and industries of the region but also the strategy of the territory around ecological efficience.
2 models were imagined by Caroline and Julie from the Terre de Verre association. A round and colored ball for the most classic shape. A ball promoting another territorial know-how.
Unfortunately, the floods that affected the territory and more specifically ARC France did not spare the blowing furnace. Julie Decriem, glass blower and Philippe Hubert, employee of Arc were not able to finish the production of the 250 planned balls.
It's only been postponed until Christmas 2024, but we'll have to wait to discover the new shape imagined and worked by Terre de Verre.
The small number of balls, less than a hundred, will not allow a sale to the general public. They will be dedicated to the employees of the 2 partner companies and to UNICEF as a prize in their Christmas raffle. A sale for Arc employees will take place this Sunday, December 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the Arc Outlet store in Arques.
Despite these setbacks, the fact remains that Terre de Verre Christmas baubles are a charitable and local gift, but also a rare gift appreciated by collectors in the region.
So see you this Sunday and then at Christmas 2024 to discover the new form…
