A virtuous partnership
Energy: feedback from a virtuous partnership
Cartonnerie Gondardennes is historically committed to the ecological transition: this French company was able, well in advance, to prepare for the issues that are in the news today: decarbonization of activity and reduction of the environmental footprint.
In order to decarbonize its industrial process, Cartonnerie Gondardennes has turned to "green energy" through a heating network of nearly 4 kilometers thanks to a partnership agreement signed in 2018 with the Syndicat Mixte Flandre Morinie (SMFM).

Operational for more than 2 years, this partnership offers the opportunity to provide feedback on this local public/private initiative.
It also allows us to share good practice in a context where energy supply and industrial decarbonization are certainly the challenges of today and tomorrow.
PRESENTATION OF PARTNERS
The Syndicat Mixte Flandre Morinie (SMFM)
The SMFM is a structure that brings together the SMLA, 2SMICTOM and SM SIROM Joint Syndicates. Created in July 2000, the SMFM's mission is to process and recover energy from household and similar waste for a territory of more than 330,000 inhabitants. The objective of the SMFM's elected representatives is to pursue an ambitious policy in terms of waste recovery and to make the Flamoval Energy Recovery Center (CVE) a high-performance facility that complies with environmental standards and uses the best available techniques. It should be noted that the discharge standards applicable to the SMFM since its commissioning are more restrictive than the already draconian European standards.
Thanks to its technological choices, the SMFM is already prepared to comply with future changes in environmental standards, particularly with regard to NOx (nitrogen oxide emissions). With regard to energy recovery, the CVE Flamoval was built and commissioned in 2012, with a turbo-alternator group designed to produce electricity continuously all year round
The Flamoval CVE has the dual benefit of treating and reducing waste, as well as producing energy. Thanks to the heat from combustion, the Flamoval CVE will have put more than 20,800 megawatt-hours (Mwh) on the electricity grid in 2021.
The production thus exported is equivalent to the electricity supply of 15,000 homes per year!
The SMFM/Cartonnerie Gondardennes partnership for the implementation of a steam network has made it possible to expand the SMFM's energy offering. Indeed, the possibility of selling energy in the form of steam has been added to the sale of electricity.
The Arques Energy Recovery unit is located at 365 Avenue Isaac Newton Arques (62510)
